  1. Discuss why potassium binders are added to standard paediatric enteral feeds in the management of hyperkalaemia for children with kidney disease.
  2. Be aware of the disadvantages of adding potassium binders to feeds, including the altering of nutrients.
  3. Describe the practical challenges associated with adding potassium binders to feeds for both hospital staff and families.
  4. Understand how to use low potassium, renal-specific paediatric feeds in the management of hyperkalaemia in children with CKD 2-5 and on dialysis, and the advantages of this management.
